There is nothing like a Momma dog. They are Perfect in every way. We'll miss her stealing our shoes, shaking her head when she was excited about something, but mostly her gentle and wonderful ways. Another sad day that the Moore home. Today we lost Our Beautiful Angel (Rush for the Stars) while under for a teeth cleaning. We knew that it was a risk to have her teeth done, but her mouth was a mess. She wouldn't let us do it for her and if we touched her mouth she would bite at us. We've been playing it over and over in our head to have it done or not. It had to be done. I forgot to say that she wasn't the healthiest dog either. frown emoticon We will miss Our Miss Angel. Holmes was a special greyhound who is pictured here doing what he loved best, being part of his pack. On the day of this photo Holmes was having a good ear day with both ears going in the same direction. Most days this was not the case. He took his ears, huge overbite and assorted special traits in stride though and thoroughly enjoyed each day. He was a fantastic ambassador for greyhound adoption for many years by working his charms at many meet and greets. He also was an adventurous hound but took mishaps like getting suck in an elevator, getting stranded on slippery grass in the back yard and having to have a a mall security escort in stride. Sadly he fractured his front leg last night most likely doing what he loved to do, romping in the yard. Our vet found a tumor and the tell tale signs of osteo on the X-rays. Due to his hind leg instability, our only option was to say goodbye. It was a very peaceful and fast journey. We all miss him dearly. |

Today I had to send my beautiful 12 year old girl, Mattie to the Bridge. She had been losing weight and a vet check did not find anything remarkable. Without a bunch of tests we don't really know what it was. I wasnt going to put her through that when it would not change the outcome. The vet suspected a lymphoma. She drank her Ensure this morning but would not touch her scrambled eggs or her chicken and rice. She seemed so uncomfortable and it got progressively worse as the day wore on, so I gave her the last gift I could give her and that was release from her suffering. |

We are all heartbroken from his loss. Note from his Dad, Howard: Today San Tan Wipeout has crossed over the bridge. He was a good boy. It is with a broken heart I write to tell you of my sad news. Today I had to put my darling girl Ice to sleep. She had cancer and it spread to her spine. She lost control of her hind legs. She lost the sight in left eye completely. She could no longer walk.
Dr.Wahl, Avenue Animal Hospital, Tinley Park, quite possibly the kindest, sweetest, most gentle man I’ve ever known, checked her over and when I saw the look on his face, I knew the moment I’ve been dreading would be happening shortly.
Dr. Wahl wears his heart upon his sleeve just like the rest of animal lovers. Perhaps if she were younger, he may have suggested surgery, but given her age and condition, the decision was left in my hands. |

I can't believe I'm saying this but we lost our spunky Rowdy Kate today. After being diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis we then found a tumor on her thyroid.
Thank you all for your kind words of comfort. Many of you have recognized that we have lost 3 dogs in the last year. Although this is true, I'm so "greytful" for all the love and fun we've shared. I wouldn't give it up for the world. Daniel and I agreed that they've given us more than we've given them. This sweet, shy boy found the perfect home for himself with Rex & Laura. With their patience and also the guidance from his grey brothers, Yukon & Dallas, Clint blossomed. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer and had to leave his heartbroken parents. Message from Rex: We could see that the meds were no longer able to make Clint comfortable and he crossed the bridge yesterday. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know that sweet Cabo passed away on Monday. On March 1, 2016 Cabo was diagnosed with colon cancer. A tumor was found at the base of her colon right at her rectum. I made the decision to keep her comfortable but not to operate since the tumor was in a very difficult place to remove and given her age and the fact that from the ultrasound it looked as if the cancer had already spread to the nearest lymph node.
The medicine really wasn't helping her these past two weeks. So, we had Lap of Love come out to our house on Monday so she could be with her pack when she crossed the rainbow bridge and so Maya would understand why Cabo will no longer be with us. Lap of Love was wonderful, so gentile and caring. I am heartbroken to lose my sweet baby girl but I know she is no longer suffering. Maya seems to understand but is obviously grieving. |
